This window is typical of those found across the country in period homes of all ages, and is made to exacting standards with mouldings reproduced from historic originals.
These traditionally made windows are built with the kind of classic joinery that can last a lifetime – or even for hundreds of years if properly maintained.
To closely replicate your existing period windows, and at no extra cost, some sectional dimensions can be altered and the thickness of the casement can be varied between 35 and 50mm.
A version with chamfered mullions and jambs is also available within the price stated. While the ovolo moulding we use is closely patterned on a study of many period examples as well as standard wooden moulding plane designs, your non standard mouldings can be exactly replicated , though there may an extra charge for this.
For greatly improved longevity, we set glazing in hybrid polymer heritage putty or Silfix U9 as appropriate; both by Hodgson. Let us know if you prefer standard linseed oil putty for single glass.
We use warm edge 7mm sight line krypton filled double glazed units to reach a frame/glass U value of 1.4w/m2K.
There are two installation options for double glazing:
1. INDIVIDUAL PANE. 14mm (4/6/4) for 1.4w/m2K. A 9mm (3/3/3) version is also available where listed building status may require it – u value less efficient however.
2. DUPLEX PANE. These are installed as a single 16mm unit over several glazing bar apertures as an economical way of achieving an adequate insulation level while maintaining an authentic look. Our unique system of applying corresponding glazing bars over the outside of these panes is as robust as, and looks identical to the edge putties.
