Kitchens

Traditional style, quality and workmanship, married to proven modern methods and hardware…

Our kitchens are built to last, using solid timber throughout, from the outer frames to the internal carcasses and shelving. Every piece is crafted with longevity in mind, often lasting for decades or even generations. Where it makes practical sense such as the cabinets in which we house our solid timber drawers, we use high-quality furniture-grade birch plywood for added strength and stability.

Traditional Kitchen - North Kent

Period Property Ltd, bespoke Joinery & Carpentry, Kent and South East

This kitchen was designed by us and made in our workshops, and in this case was installed by us. Every unit is bespoke – we work to the needs of the space rather than the usual common dimensional standards. Tulipwood front frames and doors as well as other timber components. All timber is preconditioned to minimise any distortion in our kiln. Each appliance is situated in its bespoke birch ply housing as are drawer sets.

Solid Oak Kitchen in North Kent

We designed and manufactured this for clients of Julian Swift. No kind of particle board was harmed in the making of this kitchen! We will only use solid wood or birch ply carcasses in our kitchens. Blum, Grass or solid wood runners. Dovetailed drawers. Mortise and tenoned frames and doors. Solid wood or ply panels.

All timber is preconditioned to a set moisture content in our kiln before being used in internal work. We keep the moisture levels low in our workshops too. This reduces the risk of warping and shrinkage considerably. For example a 225mm wide Douglas Fir (pinus sylvestris) board will shrink by 7-8mm when MC is down to 6-10%. A kitchen such as this will cost around £25-35k plus vat including installation and decoration.

The separate side board and wheeled island unit are also ours.

All textures, flooring, decoration etc by Julian Swift.

Cottage Kitchen - Mid Kent

Period Property Ltd, bespoke Joinery & Carpentry, Kent and South East

Solid oak cottage kitchen.

Go Green – it’s a colour that goes with everything – this kitchen reminds us of a spring meadow filled with wild flowers of every hue.

This late C17 cottage already enjoys an under-stair larder, which having now been made clean and sound and filled with goodies allows the small kitchen space to feel comfortable to work in.

In these tight spaces, bespoke sizing really comes into its own. Cabinets need not be the standard 600mm deep. Or their widths can be made to fill the full space available. Additionally the walls themselves can become the sides and back of the cupboard space, thus adding a significant percentage of storage compared to standard cabinets.
Pull out shelves also make those inaccessible corners useable.

Kitchen including table and settle

Period Property Ltd, bespoke Joinery & Carpentry, Kent and South East

This oak kitchen was made as a part of a complete conversion of a C17 granary and oast with our colleagues at Julian Swift.

The kitchen included fittings for a larder, a table, a settle and various other items. These included a newly designed dresser top for an existing antique base.
