From infancy, David has grown up immersed in the intricacies of historical architecture, along with his father’s various types of historical transport and machinery, ranging from powered bicycles to steamships. He has been designing, researching, and honing his craft since childhood.

After a lifetime spent exploring, playing in, restoring, renovating, converting, and living in historic buildings, David and his wife Sally Swift have established the Old Period Property Shop, where you will find some special windows, doors, wall coverings, staircases, kitchens, and many other fittings and fixtures. All these bear the artisanal mark of craftsmanship and reflect David’s deep respect and love for the traditions and skills of the past.
